Warehouse wonder

To me, Wapping is the home of warehouse living. Nowhere in London does it better. So, how would you like to sample living in a Wapping warehouse conversion? By Catherine Golding

There is something about warehouse conversions that I just love; the fact that an old period building can be saved from demolition – from planners who just don’t understand their appeal – and then used for an entirely new purpose. I think it’s wonderful.

This luxury two bedroom apartment in St Johns Wharf – a listed and landmark warehouse conversion and prime example of my point – showcases everything that is good about warehouse conversions. The sheer size of the open plan living spaces, the exposed brickwork, the high ceilings and exposed beams and joists. It’s industrial, it’s tough but above all, it’s beautiful.

Having undergone a recent refurbishment this dual aspect apartment, set on the second floor, offers character throughout and is on the market with Knight Frank’s Wapping office.

The property extends to 1,356 sq ft and it’s reception area is huge, with space for dining or relaxing with friends – plus it provides lovely views of Wapping’s tranquil Rose Gardens from its Juliet style balcony.

It’s not all brickwork and beams though; the tiled bathrooms are modern and stylish, the kitchen is sleek with clean lines and a lovely design. In short, it has everything you could wish for.

If you can tear yourself away from the apartment, you’re in an ideal location – right in the heart of Wapping, close to a number of popular restaurants by the river, private coffee houses and Wapping station.

It is simply a superb example of the wonder of warehouse living. A joy to behold.
