Shakespeare’s finest work?

This is, of course, said in jest however Shakespeare Tower is certainly one of the best examples of Brutalist architecture that can be found in London. Catherine Golding reports

The apartment – known as a Type 8C – is located on the 34th floor and perhaps not surprisingly has magnificent views of the London skyline with numerous landmarks seen from its terrace, these include St Paul’s Cathedral and The London Eye, as well as partial views of the River Thames.

The accommodation comprises a dual-aspect reception room, original Barbican kitchen, three double bedrooms, a bathroom and shower room, as well as access to a wraparound balcony/terrace.

Designed by Chamberlain, Powell and Bon, the renowned architects, it is – in the agent’s opinion – one of the very best examples of Brutalist architecture (which has a strong influence of Le Corbusier design) that can be found in London.

Its gardens and lake bring a little bit of country life to the centre of The City and The Barbican Centre, which being part of the Global Cultural Districts Network, is the largest performing arts centre in Europe, hosting music concerts, art exhibitions and film screenings.

A superb example of a Barbican apartment we highly recommend viewing, its no surprise to us that the agents love the views and the apartment – and we’re convinced you will too.
